L'1 de febrer de 1972 es va publicar als Estats Units Harvest, el quart àlbum del canadenc Neil Young. Va arribar a ser el disc millor venut de l'any, es va mantenir dues setmanes al nº1 del Billboard200 i es van extreure dos singles, 'Old man' i 'Heart of gold'. Aquest últim va assolir el nº1, l'únic de la carrera de Young i va ser el tema que el va donar a conèixer a tot el món.
